Alpha Judd Jefferies Matthews

Alpha was born in Declo, Idaho, to E.H. (Nick) and Nellie Martin Judd. At age 7 her family moved to Grantsville, Utah, which became her lifelong home.
She married Daniel Paul Jefferies in 1930, and was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. He died in 1942. Married J. Wrathall Matthews in 1946. He died in 1980.
She worked for over 20 years in the Grantsville Elementary and High School Lunchroom. She enjoyed the students and her co-workers and they enjoyed her humor and generosity. Her attributes included a quick wit, ability to tell a good story, generosity, hospitality and honesty. She loved traveling and saw much of the world. Shopping was her fettish and she was preceded in death by Auerbach's Department Store! She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survived by two daughters, Lola (James) Johnson of Taylorsville; Lynn (Gary) Arbon of Salt Lake City; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; nephews, Don (Shanna) Judd, Terry (Diane) Judd. Preceded in death by siblings Fanny Anderson, Hy and Raleigh Judd; son, Lee R. Jefferies.
We express special thanks to the staff at Cottage Glen for their loving care. We also appreciate the devotion and support given by Don and Shanna Judd. Funeral services will be held on Friday May 12, at 1 p.m. at Grantsville West Stake Center, 115 E Cherry Street, where friends may visit with the family 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. prior to the service. Interment Grantsville City Cemetery.
