Bonnie Helen Peterson obituary

Bonnie Helen Jefferies 1929 ~ 2004

On the 11th of September 2004, Bonnie Helen Peterson Stoker Jefferies, 75, died at home surrounded by the family she has nurtured and loved, after a courageous and prolonged battle with inflammatory breast cancer. Her presence will be sadly missed, but her loving influence continues. Bonnie was born the 9th of August 1929, in Mount Pleasant, Utah to Viola Phillips and Bert Edwin Peterson. Her mother moved her to Murray, UT and married Clyde Stoker. Her grandmother, Inex Hollenbaugh, was much loved. She graduated from Murray HS in 1947. She married John Richard Jefferies the 12th of February 1952 after graduating from the U. of U. in 1951. She was sealed to her family in the Salt Lake Temple in 1956. She and John raised their daughter and two sons while moving around the USA. They lived in Las Vegas, NV; Pacific Grove, CA; Minneapolis, MN; Topeka, KS; Salt Lake City, UT; St. Petersburg, FL; Columbus, OH; Buffalo, NY; Alpine, UT; and Neola, UT. She was most currently a resident of St. George, UT. Her family was the main focus in her life, but she made time to serve as Relief Society president in different places numerous times, as well as writing and directing road shows, serving as YW camp director, as secretary for her DUP chapter, and in many other capacities in and out of the LDS Church. She loved travel including visits to every state, Mexico, Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. She always demonstrated a generous, fun-filled hospitality with the style of a true lady. Her delicious cooking was a hallmark. She is survived by her husband, John; her children, Julie, James Richard (Laura), and John Bradley (Jasmine); sisters, DeeAnn Peterson Lubbers and Judy Stoker Brown; and grandchildren, Samuel Ryan and Zachary John Paquette, Natalie Jasmine and Peter Bradley Jefferies, Joshua Ka'imipono and Jacob Keoni Jefferies. She was preceded in death by grandson, Jeffery Hugh Paquette. The viewing will be held Tuesday the 14th of Sept. 2004, from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday the 15th of Sept., there will be a viewing at 11 a.m., service at 12 noon at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, SLC. Burial will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
